Trapdoor Tales: The Mini City
Underneath the trapdoor and at the bottom of the stairs was an amazing miniature city
Alright, my little sleepyheads, let's gather 'round for another Trapdoor Tale, this time about a miniature city!
After their parents' goodnight kisses, Rosie and Ben tiptoed to their rug. Tonight, it felt extra fluffy, like a cloud made of cotton candy. They pulled back the rug, and there it was – the little trapdoor, glowing with a warm, golden light.
They climbed down the steps, their feet padding softly on the wooden stairs. But when they reached the bottom, they gasped! It wasn't the forest or the beach tonight. Instead, they found themselves at the edge of a tiny, bustling city.
Little buildings, no taller than their knees, lined the streets. Tiny cars, like colorful beetles, zoomed along the roads, and even tinier people bustled about their day.
The tiny people, dressed in clothes made of flower petals and leaves, stopped what they were doing and turned to Rosie and Ben with wide, excited eyes.
"Welcome, giants!" they chirped in voices like tinkling bells. "Would you like to join our party? We can shrink you down to our size!"
Rosie and Ben looked at each other, their eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Shrink down?" asked Ben.
A tiny person with a hat made of a mushroom cap explained, "With a sprinkle of our magic dust, you'll become as small as we are! Then you can play and dance and feast with us!"
With a sprinkle of shimmering dust, Rosie and Ben felt themselves getting smaller and smaller, until they were just the right size to join the fun.
The tiny city was even more amazing up close. They danced with the flower-petal people in the town square, where the music was played on tiny harps made of grass. They rode in cars made of acorns, zooming through the streets and waving to the tiny people in the windows.
They feasted on tiny cakes made of berries and drank sweet nectar from flower cups. The tiny people told them stories of their city, of their flower-petal houses and their acorn cars.
As the moon began to set, the mushroom-cap person gathered everyone together. "It's time for our giant friends to return home," he announced.
With another sprinkle of shimmering dust, Rosie and Ben grew back to their normal size. They waved goodbye to the tiny people, their hearts full of the joy and wonder of the miniature city.
They climbed back up the stairs, pulled the rug into place, and snuggled into their beds, their minds filled with images of flower-petal clothes, acorn cars, and the sweet taste of nectar.
And soon, they were fast asleep, dreaming of tiny cities and big adventures.
