Snuggle in close, little one, and let your imagination start to stretch like a warm marshmallow.

The sun was splashing golden puddles all over Max’s backyard, making the leaves on his amazing treehouse lab shimmer like tiny emerald coins. But inside, it was a different story. Max, with his bright, curious eyes usually sparkling with ideas, was slumped on a beanbag chair. His friends, Lily and Sam, were doing the same, looking like three little deflated balloons.

“Ugh,” sighed Lily, tracing patterns on the dusty floorboards with her finger. “Another summer day, and nothing to do.”

Sam nodded so hard his glasses almost slipped off his nose. “We’ve watched all the cartoons, like, a million times. And even ‘Super Space Explorers VII’ isn’t exciting anymore.”

They’d even asked Max’s parents if they could go to the Fun Fair, the one with the giant bouncy castle and the cotton candy that tasted like pink clouds. But Max’s mom was busy watering her prize-winning sunflowers, and his dad was tinker…
